Your experience

Renowned for its extensive sculpture collection by Michelangelo (a true master of the Renaissance), The Accademia Gallery of Florence features all of his most famous masterpieces including La Pietà, the Slaves, and San Matteo, as well as the world-famous statue of David (located in the Tribuna), which is the first work that attracts thousands and thousands of tourists from around the world each year! At the museum, the primary galleries highlight numerous works of art from Italian artists, including some of the most well-known artists: Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Pontormo, Andrea del Sarto, and Giambologna, to name just a few.

Much of the artwork in our collection was commissioned by members of the Medici family, who had an important and substantial collection of art.

You can also visit a plaster model room containing models made by Lorenzo Bartolini from the Late 1700s alongside the Music Instrument Collection.

Three rare Stradivari violins are located here as well as the first piano ever created.

You will see many paintings from the 14th-century artist Lorenzo Monaco on the upper level, who used lavish amounts of gold leaf and lapis lazuli (two materials typically found in Florentine art from the Middle Ages).

You will also get to see a fresco painted by the famous painter Giotto, who was the first painter to discover perspective when painting.
