Then, through a special entrance that allows skipping the line, your guide will lead you into the Accademia Gallery. After a brief aside, you will be led into the Hall of the Colossus, where masterpieces like Giambologna’s "Rape of the Sabines", Cassone Adimari, and Domenico Ghirlandaio’s gloomy "St. Stephen between St. James and St. Peter" are housed. The tour moves deeper into the main Hall of the Prisoners, where you learn about the unfinished statues from Michelangelo's “Slaves”. After spilling all the secrets about Michelangelo’s "David", your guide will take you to Palazzo Medici Riccardi, which belonged to the first branch of the principal Medici residence. From here on out to the square stands what used to be Florence’s cathedral until the 8th century: Church of San Lorenzo. In the early 15th century, it was completely rebuilt by the Medici family as a private parish church and a burial place. On your way, you will also pass the Medici Chapels, the private mausoleum of the Medici Grand Dukes, where Michelangelo's New Sacristy and his Medici Tombs are kept. Then get back on your tour and head to Piazza Della Signoria in the very heart of the historical center (close to everything else) where a statue of Cosimo I is located. Your tour will continue down the Uffizi Courtyard toward the Arno River before crossing over to the other side at Ponte Vecchio. Afterward, welcome to yourself in the Oltrarno district. The Home of Palazzo Pitti, one of the greatest museums in Florence today, and the former Medici family residence; at this point, your guide will take you wherever you are interested in: gardens, museums, churches, or whatever else (apart from these) because also leading you through their territory at the same time narrating all those hidden stories about this famous Florentine dynasty.
