Your experience

Embarking on an exciting new adventure will uncover the many wonders of Michelangelo’s David, as well as the wonderful Accademia Gallery with a highly rated English-speaking expert.

This exclusive opportunity to view the David and the Accademia Gallery during typical visitor hours and completely free of the hustle of large crowds.

This is an opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in a small group (6 people or less) before regular museum hours.

You should admire the beauty of Michelangelo's David.

It was done in one piece, because other artists did not think it could be done, when he was 26.

When Michelangelo created the statue, he had a lot of vision, and famously said, "I saw the Angel in the marble, and carved until I set him free." He only used hand tools, and put gold leaves around the base to remind us how long ago he created David.

You will find out many intriguing stories that are connected through the figure of David: By exploring some of the political impact surrounding David's creation, you will also have an opportunity to learn about Michelangelo's life and his genius.

The way David was sculpted with his legs in a contrapposto position gives you a great visual way to look at him as a physical being and the reflective quality of his face and body language while he stands before you.

The Accademia houses yet another treasure - Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures known as The Slaves.

Originally, these sculptures were encased in blocks of marble when Michelangelo sculpted them, and represent a feeling of being freed from their rock prisons upon completion.

You'll also view the powerful emotional depth of Giambologna's The Abduction of the Sabine Woman along with the ornate glory of Jacopo di Cione's The Coronation of the Virgin.

When you complete your tour (after 1 hour) of the Accademia it will be breakfast time so you can enjoy an amazing breakfast and traditional cappuccino while saying goodbye to many very happy groups of people exiting the building at that same time.
