Your experience

The Accademia Gallery is an artistic achievement in the creation and preservation of the greatest masterpieces of Italian Renaissance, including the world’s most famous statue, Michelangelo’s “David”.

It is also a museum containing historic artworks from the City of Florence that span a number of different periods/schools of artistic creation.

1. The Chamber of Incarcerated Individuals The Slaves (or Prisoners) sculptures from Michelangelo disembody visitors as they walk into this place, showcasing unfinished sculptures created by the artist.

These beautiful sculptures have an intense feeling of movement that gives the impression that the sculptures are struggling to break free from their stone bodies.

This is an awesome way for the figure to see Michelangelo's non-finito method, as well as how well he understands human anatomy.

2. The Tribune and Michelangelo's David The Sculpture, David, is a white marble sculpture that stands over 17 feet tall and has a captivatingly detailed design — from the veins in David's hands to piercingly watchful expression in David's eyes, there is much to be appreciated about this work of art.

To see this sculpture in person can be an experience that pictures cannot communicate to the viewer.

The David is far from the entirety of the collection at the gallery The Hall of Models also contains a large collection, including the Gipsoteca Bartolini, which is a beautiful collection of plaster casts created in the 1800's that provides a fascinating glimpse into the private world of an artist's workshop.
